Viewpoints in Nordanstig

Nature is open to everyone 24 hours a day, all year round, absolutely free! Choose one or a few of our viewpoints, pack your backpack and set out in freedom!

Here we have a selection of places in our nature, where you can experience an amazing view! Either from a mountain top or from a lookout tower, or simply from a lake or sea shore.

Bålleberget - Bergsjö

Bålleberget has several peaks, the western and highest is 294 m above sea level. On its eastern and southern slopes there is an old fine coniferous forest of both spruce and pine. The upper part of the slopes has a view towards Bergsjö and Storsjön. The hike to the mountain is uphill with a lot of steep climbs that require some effort to pass. Just north of the telemast that is passed, in a cable street, there are several paving stones on the ground, probably bird catching facilities, which have been used by the Sami. There are also several Sami remains in the area, including a grave and former farmland.

Haghällorna - Bergsjö

Haghällorna - Gently sloping path, approx. 1.5 km, on very beautiful "hällmark" - exposed bedrock smoothed out by gravel during the ice age - with plenty of old trees. From the path, in the spring and early summer, you can hear, among other things, warblers and redstarts. There is a cabin where you can rest at the top of the "hällar". Very nice view towards Älgered and Barrtjärn. Mountain carnations bloom around the cabin during June.

Gruvberget - Gnarp

Gruvberget - Beautiful area with pine trees, cobblestone fields, boulders and a nice sea view from the highest point of the mountain. There are a number of old mine holes in the area, which is why careful caution should be observed when hiking here. The holes were added from around 1870 as an attempt to find iron ore for Gnarp's blast furnace ironworks. The attempts failed for various reasons...

Vettberget - Gnarp

Vettberget - Mountain with a well-preserved ancient castle. In a cave-shaped crevasse in the rock there is a very old petroglyph in the form of a foot sole.

Fine old pine trees, view of the Bothnian Sea and the nearby Lunnsjön. Fine sandy beach in Lunnsjön which is suitable for swimming.

Sindra - Harmånger

Sindra - Old popular destination where Harmångersån starts from Storsjön. Here there is a power plant dam with a bridge to a scenic area on Storsjön's eastern shore with a view of the entire lake. In addition, there is a nature trail to the east along the river's power plant channel with remains of former floating.

Luråsen - Hassela

Luråsen is close to 500 m above sea level and once you're up in the lookout tower you'll pass the 500-metre altitude. From here you have a stunning view in all directions.

Ånäset - Hassela

Ånäset - Forested, pine-dominated, ca 1.3 km long cobblestone slope, which forms a very scenic promontory in the north-western part of Lake Hasselasjön. Roughly in the middle of the area is an open grassy area. Among the herbs you can find torch flowers, gorse and field berries, and among less common plants like forest bell and King Karl's scepter have been found here. Here, there are also remains of landing and material storage for lof-driving and an abandoned shooting range. There's a fantastic view of Lake Hasselasjön from Ånäset's headland.

Glavsberget - Ilsbo

Glavsberget - Mountain with observation tower and cabin for you to rest in. Mile-wide views in all directions, including out over the Bothnian Sea with the islands of Gran, Vitörarna and Jättholmarna as well as Hudiksvall's coast and islands.

Tjuvön - Jättendal

Tjuvön - Area with a fine outcrop overlooking the Bothnian Sea with the islands Jättholmarna, Vitörarna and Gran. On Tjuvön many years ago there was a nesting place for the Euroasian eagle-owl. Here there are pine trees, slopes towards the sea and a small coastal meadow with species-rich flora.

Rönnskär - Stocka

Rönnskär is an island connected by a bridge from the mainland. It is originally an old fishing village with dense housing. A one-way road (about 0.7 km long) goes around the island. The northern part consists of beautiful and open cobblestone fields with fine beach flora and a view out over the Bothnian Sea and the islands of Jättholmarna and Vitörarna.

Here you will also find Vilda Fisken, a self-service fish store selling fish sustanably fished by local fishermen.

Orn - Strömsbruk

Orn with Ornskarpen is a very beautiful area, which runs from Strömsbruk along the River Harmångersån to its outlet in the Bothnian Sea. This stretch is known for its fine trout fishing. Here there are impressive old pines, along the shores a rich coastal flora and a rich birdlife, popular for birdwatchers. At the far end is the long, narrow and very scenic cobblestone promontory Ornskarpen.
