Gruvberget
på SörfjärdenBeautiful area with pine trees, cobblestone fields, boulders and a nice sea view from the highest point of the mountain. There are several old shafts used for mining in the area, so you should be alert and careful when hiking here.
In order to revive iron production in Sörfjärden again, after Ströms Bruks AB's closure in 1878, they began looking for ore on the nearby Gruvberget. In 1903, the experiment was finally ended.
At Gruvberget, some mine holes and the old powder cellar remain. Mining traces indicate that ore mining may have already occurred before the end of the 19th century.
Directions
From E4: turn towards Sörfjärden. Continue for about 10 km, follow the Coastal Road south for about 2 km.
